New in North America

Whether you’re a seasoned returning skier or boarder to a North American Epic Australia Pass destination or you’re embarking on your first overseas skiing & snowboarding holiday there’s no doubt you’ll notice something new.

Vail Resorts continues to invest across their North American resorts including Whistler Blackcomb, Park City, Vail & Breckenridge to allow those visiting to have the best time possible. So, what’s new?

Whistler Blackcomb: 3 New Lifts

Well, if you haven’t heard, in a historic investment last year Vail invested a staggering CAD$66 Million in upgrading the lifting facilities within North Americas largest lifting system. Focusing on 3 new lifts in the heart of the resort including the new 10-person Blackcomb Gondola, connects the base of Blackcomb Mountain to the Rendezvous Lodge and the epic Peak to Peak Gondola. Additionally, on Blackcomb Mountain, the new Catskinner high-speed quad chair was installed replacing an existing triple chair while over on Whistler mountain the new Emerald 6-person chair replaced the existing quad chairlift. These new lifts made their debuts during the 2018/19 season and have significantly improved the skiing & snowboarding experience. Check out all the construction action here!

Park City: New Quad Chairlift - "Over & Out"

In Park City this season the resort will introduce their new “Over & Out” fixed grip quad chairlift. The new lift provides a quicker, more direct route for skiers & boarders to access the Canyons Village from the centre of the resort. Transporting guests from bottom of the Tombstone Express Lift and unloading near the top of the Sunrise lift on the front side of the mountain. In addition to the new lift will be the new Tombstone BBQ Restaurant, serving up delicious homemade BBQ dishes such as in-house smoked meats and homemade sauces right near to the base of the new Over & Out lift. YUM!

Vail: Upgraded & Expanded Snowmaking Systems

In the largest snowmaking expansion in the resorts history, Vail upgraded and expanded their snowmaking systems, making them more energy efficient and adding a further 200 Acres to their existing 431 acres of snowmaking terrain. This allowed the resort to guarantee an earlier November opening with earlier access to higher elevation terrain from 2 base areas. The improvement will also maintain high quality snow conditions throughout the season. Nice work Vail!

Breckenridge: New & Improved Peak 8 Base Area

This season Breckenridge skiers & boarders will arrive to a whole new look & feel at the resorts Peak 8 base area. Which now includes new escalators connecting the street & plaza level, a new retail and rental outlet, new skier services facilities and an ice-skating rink! The existing Village hotel has also been replaced by the development of the new Gravity Haus. A ski-in/ski-out property for the avid skier or boarder which includes an in-house fitness/recovery centre & a Japanese inspired Onsen, perfect after a big day of exploring the mountain.

If you’re heading to Whistler Blackcomb, Park City, Vail or Breckenridge this summer we hope you enjoy all these new additions!
